In the View Menu, choose Text Size. The sub-menu that appears claims that the
keyboard shortcut for "Increase" is Ctrl++. However, Ctrl++ doesn't actually do
anything, and instead Ctrl+= increases the text size.

Actually, it refers to the + and - keys on the numeric keypad.

Ctrl+Shift+(key with = and +) and Ctrl+(key with = and +) both increase the text
size for me.

reporter, do you think this bug can be closed (as you misunderstood the meaning
of the text there) or should it be morphed into a bug about changing that text
to something more easily understandable?

You shouldn't go by what the reporter wants. You should go by what the
principles of user interface design tell you. :-) Myself, I don't care much
(even if you leave it as it is). I only reported this because I thought other
people might be confused by it.

It might make sense to either change Ctrl++ to Ctrl+=, or change both to
"Ctrl+Num -" and "Ctrl+Num +" or something. I don't know which of the two is
used more commonly by people; I use the former.

Ctrl+=, Ctrl+NumPad+
