Dear,
Fluent sofware is currently using file extension .cas. Our files could contain a
mixe of test and data. While we save an attachment .cas received in an email on
windows xp box the data section is corrupt on the saved file. using mozilla on
linux bos does not show this problem. I saw that mime type for .cas file has
already define for casio or atari ... file then I Tried de define our helper
applications in :
edit - preferences - navigator - helper applications

--------------------------------------
New Type
MIME Type: application/octet-stream
Description: fichier cas fluent
Extension: cas

save to disk.
---------------------------------------
The problem still the same.

I cas send you an .cas file to show the différence in the data section between
windows and linux.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.edit - preferences - navigator - helper applications

--------------------------------------
New Type
MIME Type: application/octet-stream
Description: fichier cas fluent
Extension: cas

save to disk.
---------------------------------------
2. save our .cas file on windows xp box
3. save our cas file on linux box
4. show that data section is corrupt.

Actual Results:
that data section in the file.cas is corrupt on the linux box

Expected Results:
I should define the mime type for .cas extension and it should overwrite the
default.

PC Xeon 32bit system with windows XP SP2 and mozilla 1.7.5 or 1.7.3
the mime type of a file does not affect how mozilla saves it. this sounds like a
bug in mailnews to me. helper applications seem uninvolved.
