Regarding homograph attacks on Firefox - a new extension is just available
"IDND" to provide some level of protection. 

This simple extension shows a green flag on Firefox's status bar if the current
page is a traditional domain name, but a blue flag if it has any international
characters.  Clicking the flag shows more information in another tab.  Freely
available at http://lingvo.org/idnd
