Do you use a wrong configured firewall, broken Adfilter or a broken proxy ?

Response: I dont have a firewall or adfilter, as am not sure about proxy, i
tried http://localhost/tst/index.html - same error - fyi 02/10/05 3:57

Do you see 2 localhost connections if firefox is running ?
Use a "dos"-Window and type "netstat -n" and you should see something like this :
  TCP 127.0.0.1:2552 127.0.0.1:2553 HERGESTELLT
  TCP 127.0.0.1:2553 127.0.0.1:2552 HERGESTELLT

Did you ever had a firewall like zonealarm on your system ?
Do you use a anti-virus Software which supports Email filtering (like Panda
Antivirus)

Another scenario for this error:

Browser Version:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1

Scenario:
Only happens when using the www.efax.com service. It didn't happen before.
Either something changed in the newer version of FireFox or efax.com did
something. I get the error when I try to send a fax (PDF, image, etc ) through
their web interface. I can send fine if I use IE.
