User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111 For the web page referenced above, if you select text starting at "Subject:" all the way to the last "#" (pound sign), copy it to the paste buffer (Edit->Copy), then try and paste it into either the HTML Composer or Email Compose, nothing happens. In the HTML Composer, the "HTML Source" view shows nothing was pasted. Note, if do a Edit->Select All from the source web page, the paste operation *does* work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.At the URL ref'd above, open it in Mozilla's Navigator, select text from "Subject:" to the last "#" at the bottom, and copy it to the paste buffer 2.Open a HTML Composer or Email Compose window 3.Try and paste the HTML (nothing happens) Actual Results: No text got pasted Expected Results: HTML should've been pasted. Maybe without the fancy MS-Styles. I originally received the content in the above ref'd URL via an email (which is where I originally experienced the problem). I recreated the above ref'd web page using view->source from that email.
wfm. But style is not kept. When past is done to the new mail window of Thunderbird 1.0, style is kept. Mac OS X 10.3.8 Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b) Gecko/20050209
I believe the author of comment #1 is trying to say that when you do a "select all" from the ref'd source web page and paste into Mozilla 1.8a6 the style attributes are lost, but when you do the same paste into Thunderbird 1.0, the style *is* kept. He's not saying anything about when the partial select is done (and the paste does nothing)
This problem also occurs for me on Windows XP (5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600) with Moz 1.8a6 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111) Note, the problem *also* occurs when copying sections of a web page from www.slashdot.org, which is most decidely not a Microsoft web page, so I've removed "MS" from the title of this bug report. To recreate the problem by copying *from* the slashdot.org page, go to their home page (www.slashdot.org which displays a list of article abstracts/summaries in the center column) and select from the first character in an article abstract title to the last character of that news item summary. When you try and paste this text to the HTML Composer or Email Compose, nothing happens (no error, nothing get's pasted). Paste without formatting works fine.
OS: MacOS X → All
Hardware: Macintosh → All
Summary: Paste of HTML containing MS styles does nothing → Paste of HTML containing certain styles does nothing
Related to bug 282252? ("Copy & paste of text causes hang")
WFM, when I copy a section from slashdot.org to HTML Composer or a Mailnews Compose window the selected text is pasted as expected, using Mozilla 1.8b1.
Hmmm, this problem seems to have gone away. It works for me now on both Windows XP and on Mac OS X 10.3.8. Oh well. I'm marking this bug as resolved, "Works for me".
