Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b) Gecko/20050211 Firefox/1.0+ Are you sure that this doesn't work properly? FWIW, if there is an interface glitch here, then it is not present on MacOS: The Save As... context menu item allows the user to specify a filename.

I get no choices. Once I click a download link (e.g. a PDF) the only choices I get are to save or open. No save as. There is an option elsewhere to select a download folder, but that's it as far as I can tell. I don't like download manager anway. Nothing was broke: why fix it. Just give me a standard file dialog and then a progress bar. I don't care about other files that were downloaded.

See Bug 244961 "add a pref to change the behaviour of Save Link As to not ask for the download location"

If you click on a link then the download manager opens with only two options: open and save. However you have the option to right click on a link and choose "Save link as..." option; this will allow you to change the file name.

Context clicking is not always possible. Downloading an attachment from a Yahoo webmail message, for example, is done by a button which is not a simple link button and right-clicking offers no solution.

Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to http://recorderweb.co.franklin.oh.us/Rec/Navigate.asp?AdvancedSearch.x=90&AdvancedSearch.y=16 2. Enter User ID pub705423 and password e77954 3. Select "Advanced Search" 4. In the "Last Name/Organization" field enter "Pinnacle Club" 5. Press the "Names Summary" button 6. Select any checkbox and press the "Detail Data" button 7. Do step six again 8. Right-Click on "Display Doc" and notice that you have to ability to "Save As" 9. Click on "Display Doc" and notice that you have no ability to name the file Actual results: 10. You have to name the file at the desktop. If you're downloading more than one file, you have to do this over and over and over again, because the filename of each file is "LoadImage2.tif" Expected results: 11. Download Manager should give you an option to "Save As" - not just "Open" or "Save" (see attached image file)

My apologies. Step 8 in Comment 7 should referende "no ability," not "to abiliity." I'm spellingly challenged.

(In reply to comment #9) > This is configurable in Tools->Options->Downloads . See also bug 282151 comment 4. Yes, but why can't the option be shown when you are presented with download options? I am not sure if you understand what is being asked, so I made a mock-up of how I envision it.
