I have google fever, so this bug contains a patch to implement Google Maps support for the address book. Lets face it, it's an amazing product. Or maybe I'm hallucinating from the fever. Anyway... patch coming. No this doesn't imply this is definately happening... just something from my dreams (like a private island with my own playboy mansion... minus the old guy in the robe).

we aren't doing this just yet. We're working with them on this and won't have approval until its out of beta. Yes it is an amazing product and we are excited about integrating with it too. :)

Awesome. This would make a very simple extension... if I have the time I'll consider putting one together. Though I still want to make a few tweeks to iPod Sync.... grr... time management.
Nice. Note that bug 117154 was filed before (for MailNews, T-Bird didn't exist yet), that wants to have a pref to change the map-provider. Maybe like we have several search-engines. I don't want to question the preferred status of Google-maps, but keep in mind that Google only provides maps for the USA for the moment. I use several different mapping services simultaneously, depending on the country and the type of search.
There is also one for supporting alternative IM protocols (bug 216214) also awaiting a review (David will get to it the day before the unix epoch exceeds the available memory in my computer). Could do the same for this. Though ideally an AB overhaul would be perfered (i've blogged about that more than once).

slight tweak. We'll be changing this for English users only. localizers can leave it alone or (as they always could) can change it a different url more suited to their locality.
