Now that bug 279967 is fixed, it's possible to use Cairo for rendering on Mac OS
X (or so I can tell; I don't have a Mac to test, but the summary of the bug
seems to indicate it's possible).  The build docs should be updated to reflect
this bugfix.
Bulding with cairo on Mac requires at least the patch from bug 245407, and
probably also the changes from 199771.

This has been fixed partially by bug 286081, and partially by checkins I made
prior to that.
