It would be nice to either disable the newMailSound alert when the junk filter
or a rule has caught every message and moved them to a junk or trash folder. If
nothing else, disabling the sound at that point would be good.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:
newMailSound is played after any message is received, regardless of its usefulness.
I would also like to request the feature
I have another feature I would like to request here

The junk filter feature is great, I have changes settings so that junk are
moved to their own folder.

So far so good, but sometimes the junk filter catches something it's not
supposed to catch. And then I have to move it back to the inbox

So what I'm suggesting is that:

When I kick that "not junk" button,
then the e-mail is automatically moved back to where it came from!

I hope this feature will be implemented soon

Keep up the good work

PS: I had a problem of Thunderbird crashing when I close it, but that seemed
to be resolved after I installed the nightly build
I too would like control over system notification events. However, i think this
should be generalised early on.

Things i would LOVE.

The ability to disable folders from prompting a system alert. The list of
folders should be arbitrary. Some folders which are not junk folders, also dont
warrant an alert.

Control not only over whether or not a sound is played, but also whether or not
an icon is displayed within the system tray would be ideal.

In short, the ability to customise whether or not the mail client alerts the
user, at all levels, would be fantastic.
Confirmed and updated subject, hopefully it's now acceptable.

Summary: new mail sound alternative with rules and junk filter → Don't play new mail sound when filters mark a message as Junk
When you set up a filter to mark a message as junk, the message is marked as
junk but stays in the Inbox folder *and* plays the new mail sound.

Two things should happen when the message a filter is set up to set the Junk
status to junk:

1) The new mail sound should be surpressed.
2) The junk mail should be moved to whatever folder junk mail is usually moved
to (uusally the default Junk folder).

Setting severity to normal since this is a bug, not an enhancement request.

(2) appears to be somewhat of a point of contention, with some people arguing
against it. Either way, (1) still needs to be addressed. The new mail sound
should not play when filters set junk status to junk.
