I am using FireFox on a Mac with OSX. Ever since I first downloaded version 1.0
trying to search bookmarks under "Manage Bookmarks" causes Firefox to crash.
One letter can be entered into the search field, but adding a second or third
letter crashes the application. It is REALLY inconvenient not to be able to
search bookmarks!!!

I too experience the same crashing with bookmark search. I am using OSX 10.3.8
with firefox 1.0.2

I see that I forgot to mention that the same was true in version 1.0.1 and
1.0.2. I also meant to say that Talkback came up when this happened and I DID
report it via TalkBack several times. It happens every time. I have never been
able to search bookmarks in FireFox.
This is still happening as of 1.0.6...
Anybody working on this?

Seems to be a duplicate of Bug 227975 ?
Still crashing Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060126 SeaMonkey/1.5a.

Following the steps in comment 0, I don't see any crashing at all using Firefox 2.0.0.3 on Ubuntu 6.10 and Mac OS X 10.4.9. With no crash log or talkback IDs, I'm going to close this bug as WFM. If you can reproduce the bug in comment 0 (not the random ones listed in other comments) using Firefox 2.0.0.3 with a new profile, please file a new bug with a crash log or talkback ID or, really, any more information.
