In mozilla 1.7.5 there is great thing: one unified url/search bar and Search
button. If I need to open URL simply press enter, if need to search press Search
button. This is simple, comfortable, fast. I will migrate to firefox if this
very handy thing will be available. Now I continue to use mozilla classic suite.
You can also add to Search button a little button (this one with down arrow)
with drop-down menu to select search engine (Like in Diggler extension I can
access additional tools like "show no images").

Please see the documentation for Firefox which is provided in the initial
bookmarks.

The "use cases" you describe are all available in Firefox.

As you point out, if you want something tailored to fit your precise
needs, then an extension is the way to go.

I could not find any extension which brings back mozilla's universal URL/Search
bar with search button. There is one "search button", which adds Search button,
but when remove search bar from toolbar it becames useless. The links in your
message are useless for this issue, so why you included them?

What I need:
+ ONE universal URL/Search bar with search button (like in mozilla browser)

What I do NOT need:
- separate URL bar and Search bar only waste space on toolbar, especially if
somone merged all toolbars into one to have more room on screen for web page
(like me)
