Firefox freezes on start, both my Fedora C3 as my WinXP box. Seems that after
removing the switch proxy extension the problem is solved. Tried to report to
the maker of switch proxy, but his website is of the air.

Bypass : in the extension preferences set "Notify me on updates" to off.
The web site is down so the updated wait for TCP timeout.
Many people have problems with this.
This extension should be removed frim update.mozilla.org until this problem is
solved.

I totally agree.  This makes Firefox look very bad.  For common users, they will
not know the cause and abandon the browser.

That site works for me.  
His site hasn't worked for me today, tried this morning and now this evening.
Maybe my proxy has it cached, then.  Anyways, I've CC'd the author to this bug.
My browser started slow, but it still works.
