When running Mozilla in Suse 9.2 I see no back and forward buttons to the left
of the address field

Your lizard is too old for a report to be of use.
You will likely get better help more speedily from the SuSE support

I downloaded and installed the mozilla 1.7.5 rpm from the suse web site and now
it works. Thank you Ben Fowler for answered my request!
