Netscape 4 had this capability. This is often useful for a variety of reasons: organizing very large bookmarks collections into separate files, editing a bookmarks file without fear of corrupting the original, creating a bookmarks file to be emailed to another user so a specific folder or set of bookmarks can be sent without sending the entire original file. Also, this would be a much easier way to change the bookmarks file location via the UI instead of using about:config or the user.js file and would be MUCH less error prone in regard to the users. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: functionality does not currently exist Expected Results: add the new functionality described above.
We removed this feature very early on and do not intend to restore it.
