User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 A roaming profile prompt preceded this. I did not understand it. When I launched Thunderbird I found the dialogue to set up the application anew. All my mail and addresses and preferences were gone. I've rebuilt it. This is the second time I've had to rebuild my pop and news accounts. I have no technical data, and can find nothing in my Event Viewer. I have not looked in the Mozilla folder. I think somehow my preference file was corrupted? I love Thunderbird. Let's fix this. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch Thunderbird 2. Find it gone 3. Rebuild pop and news accounts Actual Results: Back to normal. But, for how long? :-) Expected Results: It is working well. This is a worthless bug report, and I don't expect feedback. I just thought I'd mention it in case others have had the same problem. I couldn't find it in the long list of common bugs.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Issues You may find that fsck will recover your preferences and perhaps other data.

See http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1242521#1242521 You may not need fsck actually (I was working on the basis that you operating system might have truncated your files, and that the data was still recoverable as lost chains). It is possible that Thunderbird has 'forgotten' where your profiles are stored. A greater or lesser jog to the memory will probably do the trick.
