User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a6) Gecko/20050111 When trying to download a .zip file, Mozilla does not start the transfert with a "xxx.zip could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later or contact the server administrator." This bug was introduced starting 1.8alpha5. No setting in the download configuration seems to change anything. Reproducible: Always
wfm Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8b) Gecko/20050218 I´m downloading Mozilla nightlies as zip, normally using right-click 'save as' Using Left-Click a download box opens. Did you install or uninstall download manager extensions? Does it happen at any location where you download, or just at one? Can you give an URL? Can you try to download the following 72 kb long file, just for test: http://ftp35.newaol.com/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/nightly/2005-02-19-07-trunk/windows-xpi/mozillauninstall.zip If the server is unreachable, you´ve got to start at: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/nightly/ look into a folder where you can see the windows-xpi folder. Edit->Preferences->Navigator->HelperApplications: Scroll in the box 'File Types' and select application/zip, then look at the box 'File Type Details' what is specified over there. related entries: application/gzip, application/x-bzip2 If you want to test a zip-nightly: when unzipped, it creates a folder 'mozilla' and in this folder is mozilla.exe and other files and folders. Unzip it to a location where this folder mozilla doesn´t exist, so a new one is created. Make a shortcut to the file mozilla.exe in this folder, add -Profilemanager if you want to use new profiles. path\mozilla\mozilla.exe -Profilemanager If you want to get rid of that nightly, just delete that folder, or rename it, if you want to install another nightly, without deleting the first.
So this bug only occours for .zip files?
got mail from reporter that after uninstalling zip files can be downloaded again. resolving wfm, feel free to reopen if bug shows again.
