This is possibly a duplicate of 272822. I updated the home page (index.html) at
my web site but Firefox can't be persuaded to fetch the updated page excpet by
following a link to another page and then click on a link back to hom. Even
then, reload reloads the out-of-date version!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use ftp to post index.html to server.
2. Start Firefox
3. Type in url of page in question or use bookmark for same
4. Click reload

Actual Results:
Got previous version of page instead of the new version.

Expected Results:
Should have fecthed the updated page.
I started having the same problem this week. My home page is
www.drudgereport.com, and whenever I click on home page or open a new firefox
window, I get the page from Feb 26th even though today is March 1. Internet
explorer works properly. I tried typing in www.drudgereport.com and the current
page comes up.

Good to hear I'm not the only one. In my case, typing in the url didn't help.
The problem eventually went away of its own accord, several days later.
Coincidentally, it went away when Firefox was temporarily unable to establish
contact with the server for my web site. When I retired, I saw my updated home
page for the first time. I don't know whether the contact failure had anything
to do with this. My suspicion all along has been that Firefox is using some
local cache on my computer when it should be noticing that the cache in question
(assuming it exists) is out of date. I searched the menus for a hypothetical
operation to flush out a cache but found none. In any case, I would expect
reload to guarantee to present the latest version, but it didn't.

I agree that Internet Explorer works properly in the same circumstances.
I downloaded release 1.0.1 today, replacing the 1.0RC2 that I had before. Not
much changed for me, but I did find a resolution (sort of) to my problem. I
don't remember if I tried this on 1.0RC2.

If I type in the physical web address of my site instead of its registered
domain name, then the same problem arise: I see on old version of the page. But
now if I Reload (ctrl-r) I do get the latest version and, what's more,
subsequent uses of the registered domain name now work properly.

Hugh can you provide the headers that are send to the browser with the page, as
per bug 272822 it seems that this could be a server configuration issue.
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

I'm reopening because the bug is still plaguing me and it doesn't arise with IE.
I don't hold out much hope of resolution in view of the number of votes
received so far, but it would be great if somebody surprised me! Sorry, I
cannot provide the "headers" that were asked for. I don't even know what the
term refers to.

Hugh - your reported Firefox version(s) are too old a build to analyze bugs against now. The problem you are reporting may well have been fixed already.

It is crucial to see it confirmed for a recent version (please provide build ID and OS info). Furthermore, please provide details on your webserver (and version). Do you still see the problem with your site http://www.doubledummy.net/ ?

Could you please download a recent version or nightly build from <http://www.mozilla.org/releases/nightly.html>, and then let us know if you still see this problem?

Many thanks, Cigno
