It opens to the mozilla homepage. the same is true when I try to open netscape. it asks for my user profile and rejects it because it says its already in use. this problem started today. I used system restore to try and get back my old settings, but it didn't work. I use the browser (and bookmarks) for my work, so it is important that I get back this function. please help. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.everytime I try opening mozilla or netscape browsers: my homepage and bookmarks have disappeared. 2. 3.
Did you have a system crash before or a power loss? Looks like Bug 193749 "bookmarks and personal preferences are lost after system crash due to power failure". See the advice in http://www.mozilla.org/start/1.5/troubleshooting/. Your profile seems to be corrupt. Create a new one and transfer important files/settings.

I am fed up of this bug. This is the 10th time it has happened to me. One more time and I am going to abandon Mozilla (though I love it). All of a sudden, all bookmarks and quick links disappear. There is just no reason for this...they are there in the morning and suddenly in the evening they are gone. No reason. The only option is to create a new profile and start all over again.
