Tools->Options->Display->HTML Messages

"When displaying HTML messages, use the following:
Text Color   Background Color"

Allow a color picker to be used rather than just presenting
a canned pallet of colors.  Especially for the background color
the available colors are almost all too dark for use.

It's not available in Thunderbird 1.5b1.

It looks like I'm not allowed to mark bugs as duplicates now, so I'll just leave this as a comment.

This looks like a duplicate of bug #42894 which has much more discussion and (the beginnings of) a patch.  Someone please dup this bug and let's get some attention over yonder.
