ThunderBird hangs when read a email or click over inbox, trash, sent, ...

-Windows XP SP2
-ThunderBird 1.0
-Pentium IV with Hyper Threading Thecnology.

TB hangs randomly. The cause is the new technology "HyperThreading".

Disabled in BIOS solved it.

Thanks.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. HyperThreading Enabled in BIOS
2. View a email with images or click any times over carpets "sent", "inbox",
"trash", ...

Actual Results:
ThunderBird hungs a few minutes

Expected Results:
no hung

this could still be a thunderbird bug - hyperthreading could expose a race
condition in our threading code, for example. Are you using imap or pop3?

I'm using pop3.
All the programs works fine except Thunderbird.
I don't know if it's a Thunderbird bug. I only have detected a problem and I
explain it.

Thanks

Firefox also suffers from this (bug 282392).

As discussed in the Firefox topic...

Experiencing the bug running TB 1.0.2 on XP SP2 / P4 Prescott 3GHz.
NOT experiencing the bug running TB 1.0 on XP SP2 / P4 Northwood 3.06GHz (FSB533).

BTW, the two systems are using the same type of motherboard with the same BIOS
revision.

No other issue on these two systems so far.
Quoting a comment from the firefox bug:
http://www.robpol86.com/misc_pgs/imagecfg.php
Download imagecfg.exe and then execute "imagecfg.exe -u thunderbird.exe" (according
to your paths).
It will always start in a single cpu mode, you won't have to bother about it
until the version upgrade.
Try upgrading to the latest BIOS release for your motherboard. This resolved a
similar issue with FireFox (1.0.4) for me on an Asus P4P800SE.
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
