When I started Thunderbird today the folder display on the left hand was empty, the menu bar was missing the 'file' and the 'edit' pulldown menu's. Of cause the mail list and the mail preview were empty too. Account information and Filter are available in the dialogs accessed by the menu. Even the mail notifier work and tells that a mail is available, it's just not visible. I have seen a similar condition when moveing a Thunderbird account (incorrectly) to another computer. Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce I expect that I can fix it by removing the profile and reinstalling Thunderbird and restoring the profile as if it came from a different computer.
Problem was solved by correting the the profile path in: prefs.js chrome.rdf download.rdf panacea.dat A few entries were pointing to a backup directory that had been removed.
