Details

WHile an FTP download is in progress, I can't switch folders in Mail, and messages in the current folder are either not displayed at all (local, POP), or only displays the headers but not the body (IMAP, NNTP). To reproduce: 1. Start FTP download on largish file 2. Switch to MailNews 3. Select a message in the current folder Actual result: If the folder is a local folder, the message pane turns blank. If it's an IMPA or News folder, the message headers of the selected message are displayed, but the message body area is black. Expected result: Message is displayed as usual 4. Select different folder Actual result: Selection in folder pane changes, but new folder contents not displayed in thread view. Expected result: thread pane refreshed as usual. Note that this does not seem to be a network problem. The IMAP log shows that the message selected is actually downloaded from the server during the download; it just doesn't make it into the message pane. Linux build 2000.02.17.15
cc mscott and putterman. Any ideas (or takers)?
Sounds like a scheduling problem with necko. ftp may be starving our protocols out from getting time slices? I'd have to investigate though.
Note again: the IMAP log shows that messages are downloaded while the FTP download is running. I can also load pages in the browser while the download is in progress.
oops...thanks Zach. I didn't read that last comment of yours at the end of the bug report =). Shame on me....
Phil found a way to weasel out of owning this bug. Reassigning.
