Enhancement Request: Negative Screen Image Option - Many sites use a white or
bright background that is **** the eyes after extended use. A negative
screen option to change black text on white background into white text on black
background (or into the negative of whatever colors is used) would be a useful
feature.

Reproducible: Always
Version: unspecified → 1.7 Branch
I have the same difficulty with Mozilla 1.7.7 under Linux.
A button to switch between user chosen colours and W.W.W. page colours would be
a good idea. I use navy blue as system background colour (as recommended by
ergonomists) but some W.W.W. pages are very difficult to read with such a
background. "Edit": "Preferences": "Appearance": "Colors": radio button then
"OK" (there is not even an "Apply" button) means 6 clicks each time.
Or some other function to automatically improve readability?

I think this is at least mitigated by:

  • Multiple extensions (at least 2 recommended by Mozilla)
  • Reader-mode
  • Websites that have dark-mode and provide it if browser and/or OS say they want it
