Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050223 Firefox/1.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050223 Firefox/1.0.1 In Firefox 1.0, the user was allowed to select and copy the filename and location displayed in the "Opening" dialog box (the one that prompts you to open or save the file). Since upgrading to 1.0.1, I can no longer do this. I've tested on both Windows XP and Mac OSX. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on a link to a binary file 2. When prompted to open or save the file, try to select/copy the filename and/or location. 3. Actual Results: The text is not selectable. Expected Results: The text should be selectable and allow the user to copy it via Right-click, Copy or Ctrl-C (or platform-specific equivilant). This was the Firefox 1.0 behavior.
I chose File->Open File, then selected a file from the list shown. This made the name appear in the "File name" field. I then selected the text of the file name (with the mouse) and copied the name to the clipboard (using right-click->copy or ctrl+insert). I was able to paste that file name to another window. Running FireFox 1.0.1 on Windows 2000 (upgraded from 1.0).
(In reply to comment #2) > Running FireFox 1.0.1 on Windows 2000 (upgraded from 1.0). Interesting. I've tried this on three different computers (Win XP on two, Mac OSX on the other), both with upgrades and clean installs. The text is unselectable for me everytime, and when doing a File, Open File as you did. Can't figure out why it'd work for you but not for me. I could understand if it was a fluke on my one install, but I can't imagine that I'm the only one with this problem if it's happened on three separate computers and installs, including a different OS.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
