284119 - Popup to set Mozilla as default mail application always appears again

After installing the new version , I am always asked again "Do you want to use
Mozilla as the default mail application". When I check the box "Do not display
this message again" , Mozilla seems to accept the input (in contrast to other
threads and bug reports I do NOT get any error message!) And even every mailto
Link works fine (opens Mozilla Mail!). But after closing and restarting Mozilla
, I do get the same question again and again. By the way, this error did NOT
occur with version 1.8a5!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Close Mozilla
2. Open Mozilla Mail
3.

Actual Results:  
Getting the popup with the question "Do you want to use Mozilla as the default
mail application".

Expected Results:  
After checking the button "Do not display this message again" , no popup should
appear after restarting Mozilla Mail.
