I copy f.e. an URL on clipboard, then want to enter that in a reply as a link
via the icon on any page of named forum. The Forum page reports that I have to
have something on clipboard to use that kind of input (this isn't the literal
report).

Before filing this report, I uninstalled update 1.0.1

Reproducible: Always



Expected Results:  
The link window would open, you can enter a link text (name), after you Enter
you can paste an URL, then you Enter again; the link is entered in your reply
page ...

The bug didn't exist in the 'Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; rv:1.7.3)
Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1'  [FIREFOX_1.0_PR]  version.

That 's why I uninstalled and went back to the 1.0 version for now.

I copy, too! The annoying thing is that sometimes the data is copied to
clipboard and sometimes not. Iguess that out of 10 copy-to-clipboard actions 6
are successful and 4 are not.
I tried to copy ed2k links from this url:

In the meantime I upgraded to 1.0.2, 1.0.3 and 1.0.4.
The problem hasn't gone away, BUT I discovered that the problem I reported
didn't exist when I performed the same actions on another webForum !
There, everything worked OK ...

I reported the problem to the Webmaster of the 1st Forum; he checked it and
replied that he had NO problem performing what I did without having the reported
problem !?

I don't know anymore ...

This occurres to me on no matter what web page i visit, occasionally copying to
clipboard just does not work from Firefox. I cannot copy from form field, normal
web page text or from address bar. Even when i open page properties and try to
copy link from there, it does not work. This bug has been there since 1.0.1 as I
remember correctly. 

I use Windows XP SP2 as my platform and this bug has occured et least o tree
different computers, 1 of them T41 laptop, others usual PC-s.

Workaround not working for copy & paste - bug (In reply to comment #142)

*To run clipbrd.exe (Clipboard Viewer) does not solve the copy and paste
problem, neither does opening in a new window.
*Only workaround for me is to copy from one tab, paste in note/text/any-pad,
swich to the new pad, copy from anypad and paste it. This only works if I swich
windows before the second copy and paste, otherwise the clipboard is blank again
*argh*. Awful if you work with tabs, wikis or anything.
*Other workaround is to work with one instance of firefox and do all copy and
paste operations from or 2 opera...
*Drag and Drop sometimes works too...


Situation:

Copy and paste between different tabs or windows does not work at all (100%).
This problem does not affect other applications, just firefox. It seems that the
clipboard is deleted (for security reasons?!) when swiching from one tab/window
to another, but not when working with external programs...

System:

WinXP_Pro_SP1, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12)
Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 (happened in the earlier version I had installed
2), Extensions: DOM Inspector, Wikipedia, Greasemonkey, CopyPlainText (tried is
as a solution for the copy and paste problem), RoboForm;

Unsuccessful tries:

1.Reinstalling after cleaning all data from previous installs
2.New User Profile
3.Open Clipboard
4.CopyPlainText (tried is as a solution for the copy and paste problem)
5.Work only with Firefox Windows, not with tabs
6.Upgrade to Firefox 1.0.7
7.Playing around with security settings

Suggested workarounds thus far (comment #142):
 
1. Open the current page in a new window (I usually just open any page in a new
window and check copy/paste there).

2. Start -> Run -> clipbrd.exe (Clipboard Viewer) 

3.Copy from one tab, paste in note/text/any-pad, swich to the new pad, copy from
anypad and paste it. This only works if I swich windows before the second copy
and paste, otherwise the clipboard is blank again

This problem also occurs under Linux.

So I get an email with a link. Copy link. Open up Firefox. Paste link--but Firefox has emptied the clipboard! (Using Ubuntu Breezy and Firefox 1.07).

After Firefox is running, this problem no longer exists. That is, Firefox running, copy link, go to Firefox, middle click, it goes. 

NOTE: did not have permissions to change bug to Linux. This is NOT a windows bug.

I have exactly the same problem. When I copy text (CTRL+C) from one FF window, open new one and paste it (CTRL+V) then nothing happen. But text is in clipboard (I can paste it to e.g. new word document). But sometimes when I open new FF window then I can paste the text. Before FF 1.5.0.3 it was ok but now it's not. I hope FF developers are going to fix it;) But it seems they don't care because 1.5.0.4 is current release and this serious bug is still present :(((

I get this fairly often.  Copy and pasting doesn't always work.  It is not easily reproducible.

I have noticed that opening a new instance of clipbrd sometimes helps.

With clipbrd open, I have noticed that if I keep Ctrl-C pressed down (so that it repeatedly tries to copy), periodically, the copy will work, but then fail shortly after.  (So, the clipbrd window flashes momentarily when it updates with the text.)

Unfortunately, this isn't easily reproducible.  It seems like FF leaves the clipboard in an undefined state.

Might be what Flaky Jake reported; I just want to report that I haven't had this problem with the 1.5.xx versions (as I recall) and I haven't had it with FF 2.0.xx either.
To be sure, I just tested it again; in fact I knew that I could copy and paste because I do regularly from one forum or website to another forum ...

So, for me, this is RESOLVED ...
