When changing background and foreground colours for mail display, it is not
always applied to the mail

ON

The foreground and background colours were modified to white and black
respectivley. Some e-mails still retain the old background colour (white)
making the mail unreadable.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.GOTO Tools->options->Display->HTML Messages
2.Change the background colour and foreground colour
3.read some mail.

Actual Results:
Some of the mail was diplayed correctly. Some was displayed with y cosen
foreground color, but the old background colour (white)

Expected Results:
changed every e-mail message to be displayed with my chosen colours
This happens when mailer is: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180, and the
message is HTML.

Using: View->Message Body As->Original HTML

produces the bug, i.e the HTML display is using my chosen foreground colour and
is using the message HTML background colour (both white)

Using: View->Message Body As->Simple HTML
Using: View->Message Body As->Plain Text

does not re-produce the bug, the message is displayed using my chosen colours.

It seems that thunderbird does not overried html background color if it is set
in original html message. The symptom happens to me only when I write html
message with explicit background color (using Outlook or Outlook Express).

Reporter,
If you still have the message, would you check the html message source around
html body tag?
I have put the HTML part of the message below. Most of the text of the message
has been removed, for security reasons.

It can be seen that the background colour of the message is set to white.

Again, the mailer was:

X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180
X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2180

Thanks for the information. It seems that the mail sender explicitly set
background color as white. And thunderbird does not substitue the color in html
with the one in preference. This also applies to foreground color.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
