Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.0
I dump all mail I get into the global inbox and then filter it into subfolders. All this works fine, except
for some reason mail that is filtered into one particular folder always disappears. In the folder pane,
the folder is bolded and the number of unread messages is in parentheses, but no messages show up
in the message list. Looking in the folder through Windows Explorer, the message file is there and
populated; it's just not displaying in Thunderbird. If I turn off the filter, the messages stay in the global
inbox and they're fine, but once they're in the problematic folder, I can't select the messages to move
them out. I've tried deleting and recreating the folder and filter, but the same thing happens. This is a
filter for mailing lists that I'm on. All of the filter rules are set to "sender contains" addresses. There
are probably a dozen or so rules.
I use POP, if that is relevant.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a filter named "lists" and add a bunch of "sender contains" rules.
2. make filter move messages to new folder named "lists" (created through filter dialog)
3. download mail
Actual Results:
Mail that gets filtered into the "lists" folder disappears
Expected Results:
Mail that gets filtered into the "lists" folder should show up like any other folder.

Step 2 to reproduce should more accurately read:
2. make filter move messages to new subfolder of inbox named "lists" (created through filter dialog)

Can you try moving away the .msf file that corresponds to the lists folder? Then
clicking on the folder should show all the messages. If that works, then do
messages received after that show up correctly?
Also, you might want to try this with a newer trunk build.

Thanks! Throwing the .msf file out did make the messages show up. However, I
haven't received any new "lists" mail yet, so I don't know if it's completely fixed.
I know... I should use trunk builds before filing bugs. But I haven't
downloaded nightlies since the Mozilla releases were still called Milestones!

It appears that the filter is working properly now. If anyone has a moment,
could someone explain why the .msf file was causing this problem? Or point me
to another bug concerning this? Thanks.
I guess this wasn't really a bug per se, but then, *something* went wrong or
else the .msf file wouldn't have had a problem to begin with.
Sometimes (for whatever reason) the .msf index files could become "corrupt".

Resolving so far, because problem was resolved by deleting the index file.
