Steps to Reproduce:
1. Turn on Caret Mode by pressing F7
2. Joyfully wander about the webpage you are viewing
3. Switch to some other application (Alt-Tab in Windows)
4. Switch back

Actual Results:  
Caret Mode gone

Expected Results:  
Caret Mode active

Even though caret mode seems disabled, re-enabling it actually requires pressing
F7 twice.
