User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050224 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050224 Moz Trunk Nightly from 6 days ago. I created a new Account, which very strangely showed 2 different versions of the Account in the Mail-News Accounts and Folders panel (upper left in the 3 panel view). The two "versions" each had a separate set of folders. This was possibly the root cause of the problem. The Account was used to send two test messages. If you like, I can create/destroy more Email Accounts for further analysis. I deleted the Account. BOTH of the Accounts disappeared deleted from the Mail-News Accounts panel display. But, when I "get all messages", I see a failed POP3 login reported for the phantom account (which probably never got a chance to save the password). I have two Account folders in /Mail, "mail.canemasters-1.com" and "mail.canemasters-2.com" (I don't see any need to hide the domain name). It looks like both messages were sent from "mail.canemasters-2.com". The Account which remains present in my prefs.js is "mail.canemasters-1.com" and I think this phantom account only had a chance to be seen when the "real" one, "mail.canemasters-2.com" was successfully removed. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a new, Valid Email Account in Mozilla Nightly 2. Look in the Accounts/Folders panel: are two Accounts with the name present? 3. Look in your Profile for Duplicate Account folders. 4. Check prefs.js for duplicate mail.server.server(n) definitions (I didn't do this before deleting the account). 5. Send a couple of messages, see if all the activity is shown on only one of the "duplicate" Accounts in the Account List panel. 6. Delete the Account-- Both vanish from the accounts panel, but one remains defined in prefs.js and tries to get mail when you "get all new messages" Actual Results: Results as described. Expected Results: Should have created (and displayed) only one set of folders for the new Mail Account. Then, I suspect, the existing "Delete Account" software would have worked correctly. theme = classic Build = standard (not GTK2+XFT) Linux = Mandrake 10.1 with all maintenance applied
Summary: 'get all messages' attempts to get messages for a deleted mail account. 2 were created? → 'get all messages' attempts to get messages for a deleted mail account. 2 were created?

unconfirmed by me as well. Due to other commitments, I haven't had time to retry this Account creation/destruction in a new nightly of 1.8.x. (I'm Now running 1.7.7 GTK2+XFT with Adblock).
