After configuring new LDAP server, running 'Offline->Download Now' do not load
any entries into AddressBook (but Thunderbird is connecting to LDAP).
Thunderbird is also able to successfully search LDAP while typing address during
'compose mail'.

Reproducible: Always
Hmmm ... your addressbook isn't a copy of the LDAP-server, that's why it isn't
downloading. That would also impossible for large impossible (in my company, it
conatins > 50K entries !).

Note that the 'Downlad and sync message' dialog box, does not contain an entry
at all. So why is this filed as a bug-report ? A enhancement-request would be
make more sence, but I guess it will still be set to WONTFIX.
Hmm, I agree that for such big trees downloading whole directory do not have too
much sense.
But I see this as an 'bug-report' because I see 'You can download a local copy
of this directory so that it is available when you are working offline' and it's
not working.
Maybe this 'Offline' tab should be just removed from application?
I have the same problem, Thunderbird 1.0, Select offline, Download now, and a
bar flashes up and then returns to the Download now window but nothing has happened.
We only have about 150 entries and the guys with laptops would really like this
function to work.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a

(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not

This bug has been fixed by bug 231965 (and is the same problem) therefore marking as duplicate. The fix for 231965 has also been committed for thunderbird 1.5 rc1 so it should work in that when it comes out. It won't go into thunderbird 1.0 as that branch is for security fixes only.
