Summary: From field text in Compose window is NOT properly aligned
Steps:
1. Launch Messenger using the -mail option
2. Click on New Msg to open the Compose window
3. Click on the downward arrow in the From field
4. Select a user id
Actual result: The user's email address is NOT properly aligned in the middle of
the text field. Some pixels in the field are cut off

Expected result: Should be properly aligned in the middle of the From text
field..

This occurs on Linux only.  It occurs in both Plain Text and HTML editors.
Win32 and Mac are fine.
This seems to be a general problem with select widgets, and actually happens all
over, e.g., in Preferences > Fonts (font select widget), Search | Search the
Internet (SE select widget), etc.  Changing component.
