After pressing the update button it goes to the “checking for updates window”
finds the update available, then after you click install the “installing window”
comes up and says installing but it doesn’t - it stalls................... (it
would be nice if you had another way of installing updates instead of JUST
relying on the browser to do it)


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Press the update button
2.Press the install button
3.Sit and watch the update window

Actual Results:  
The update window said Now downloading and installing updates......
and never has downloaded or installed anything

Expected Results:  
I kinda expected it to have updated Firefox

It would be nice if you had another way of installing updates (instead of JUST
relying on the browser to do it,) like a web page on your site that one could
manually download and install updates if problems occur...........

Like http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/?
Firefox 1.0.1 is firefox 1.0 with the patches. Just upgrade to that, it's the
same thing the software update does.

This is a duplicate of Bug #288054.

At present, the firefox update is unable to work when the "Allow web sites to
install software" is disabled.  That option is found via Tools | Options, then
looking in the "Web Features" section.

It says it downloaded the update, but when I click the 'Install' button it stalls.
