User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1
When trying to do anything, select a menu, use the scrooll bars, trying to
click on a link etc. the program freezes and there is no answer.
If you launch the task administrator you can see two instances of the task
mozilla with the state NO RESPONSE.
after a few seconds the 2nd. tasks disapears and the programs responb, BUT, as
soon as you take any other action the loop resumes (two instances, no
response, 2nd instance disapears and resume active status).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start mozilla.
Actual Results:
The program freezes and the 2nd instance is created.
Expected Results:
Work as it should (not creating another task in the task manager.
The program does not crash but if you try to close it (click an X or try to
select exit) the (NO response) appears in the explorer bar (top) bside the
Mozilla firefox, and a report for windows crashes appears.
Also the mozilla task dissapears from the tool task at the bottom of the
screen even though the tast can be selected using Alt+Tab.

This image shows how (also) when you try to close the program you get the “This
program is not answering” and that there would be and abnormal end.

And last, but not least this image shows the different instances created
manually and automatically every time you try to execute any action within the
Firefox program.
As it can be seen (in the rightmost screen), there are TWO instances of Google
search and TWO instances of Mozilla firefox Help) all of the have a NO RESPONSE
state. Also notice that even though there are 4 instances in the task manager
there is only on task shown at the task bar at the bottom.
Freezes every so often. Also, when Adobe reader 7.0 opens, I have to shut down
the acrobat process for the pdf to be able to be read in firefox.

Firefox freezes when Adobe reader is opened through it.
Also creates multiple instances of itself without any user intervention.

this is a plugin problem, not related to this bug.

I am also experiencing the exact same problem. I don't know if it's connected,
but it started after I updated to Firefox version 1.0.7

Is this bug still reproducable? Try upgrading to a newer version of Firefox, preferably a nightly testing build available at http://www.mozilla.org/developer and report back with your results. Thank you.

Since there's no response from the reporter, I'm closing this bug as works for me. If you're able to reproduce using Firefox 2.0.0.3 or later with a new profile, please reopen this bug. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
