Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1

On rare occasion, when I have several tabs open and then close one tab, Firefox
closes without warning. I have the preference set to enable the warning dialog
about closing a window with multiple tabs.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Browse two sites in one window with one site in each tab
2. Close one tab by clicking the red x
3. Firefox will close without warning

Actual Results:
I could not intentionally reproduce the problem even on the sites where it
originally happened. It occurs rarely and at random.

Expected Results:
When one tab out of several is closed, Firefox should not close. If the red x
to close the window is accidentally clicked, Firefox should give a warning
dialog about closing a window with multiple tabs.

I have obseverved that with two tabs open, when I close one tab the previous tab
sometimes (about 5% of the time) goes "back" one page, in version 1.0 as well as
1.0.1.
"Me too!"

One of my users also reported the red tab-close "x" periodically closing the
whole window, but have not been able to confirm it with my own eyes. When I
asked about the "closing-one-tab-causes-another-to-go-'Back'" behavior they said
they thought they'd seen it happen, but couldn't be positive. (I've asked them
to keep an eye out for it.)

However, while retracing their steps I discovered Bug #286152--any possibility
these are connected? (Doesn't seem likely, but thought I'd ask.)

The machine has Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5)
Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
I saw it manifest today, reproducable on this machine after rebooting.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

Open a new tab with
[http://genealogy.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.intersurf.com%2F%7Ercollins%2Fnames.html]
(remove the []'s). When you click on the red 'x' the icon stays depressed for a
moment, then all windows/tabs close.

I could not easily reproduce on a machine with
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225
Firefox/1.0.1
On the other machine, the 'x' depresses for a moment, but then the correct tab
closes.
I can confirm this bug. Recommend changing the severity to 'Major' as it makes
it very difficult to use Firefox normally.

I am running Firefox: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.7.6)
Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2

I have recently started having the problem listed in this bug report. I have not
had this problem on other platforms, and I don't think I had the problem on this
current platform until I added the bookmarks synchronizer extension. I'm not
blaming the extension, but I had not noticed the problem before, if it existed
previous to that. I have been running the new "Mandriva" (Mandrake) 10.2 x86_64
version of Linux. I have been running Firefox on it for a couple of weeks before
I installed the bookmarks synchronizer today.

After it happened a few times I ran it from the command line to see if it was
outputting anything unusual. Here is a capture of the output it generates:

WriteReady
Write
Destroy
The program 'Gecko' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadShmSeg (invalid shared segment parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 504 error_code 166 request_code 144 minor_code 2)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I tried running it with the '--sync' option like it said, but no difference in
the outcome.
did you do;
./firefox -d gdb -g --sync

(realistically, if you're using a nightly build, you'll need to do some work to
make gdk_x_error crash so that talkback provides a stack trace)

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

I believe that onetab is a rouge program used to log information from your computer. I have sent it to Avast! to confirm this information. It installs automatically when you download and install a certain program. I believe the program is a webcam application. Use caution when playing with this tab.
