I just noticed that all the files selected for "save as..." are pending when you open "Tools -> Download manager".
Are files otherwse saved? if you for instance do a "File->Save Page As..." ? If not: Can you try this -quit mozilla -delete "compreg.dat" in the installation dir -restart If that helps: Dup of bug 180672

I go no compreg.dat within my whome ~/.mozilla
Correct. Try writing "which mozilla-bin" then cd to that dir and down into a subdir called components If I remember right, that's where compreg.dat is on Linux.
oh.. i don't know the deb package. If "which" doesnt find it, try "locate"

Did you try with a nightly of mozilla 1.7.6? A patch was checked in for this in bug 239472. I can reproduce with: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041217 But this is Work For Me with: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050310 Marking as a duplicate of bug 239472. Feel free to reopen if i'm wrong. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 239472 ***

rkaa: BTW just tell the user to load javascript:navigator.plugins.refresh(true); as a URL :), i think that is easier than finding&deleting compreg.dat (and will have the same effect).
