I am using Thunderbird 1.0. In the current profile, I have installed the extensions | MessageID-Finder 1.9.9 | Mnenhy 0.7.1 | Quote Colors DE 0.2.6 | adressContext DE 0.6 | MozillaCalendar 0.8.3+ | MagicSLR 0.9.0 | ConQuery 1.5.1 I answered the porting | Message-ID: <d0cotb$vvv$01$1@news.t-online.com> | Betreff: Re: PROBLEM GELÖST - Fehler Installation HBCI | Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 My answer has got the header | Message-ID: <4229F657.1050205@matthias.spanier.dialin.t-online.de> | Betreff: Re: | Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859- where the subject line was cut off. Problem: In this case the contents of the subject line were lost when answering. Regards, Matthias Reproducible: Always Expected Results: Keep the subject line of the answered posting when answering, and inserting "Re: " at the beginning (if no such "Re:" already in there). Workaround: I should remember that such a problem might happen, and if it does, I need to restore the subject line manually.

Try starting Thunderbird in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur when running like that, the problem is with one of the extensions, not with TB. In that case, it's up to you to figure out which of those extensions might be causing the problem, and to contact the author of the extension.

Hello Mike, thanks. I started Thunderbird in safe mode, displayed the same posting <<d0cotb$vvv$01$1@news.t-online.com>>, and clicked "Antworten" (i.e. "Answer", in English). The subject line of the answered posting was completely taken over to my answer, then. According to your advice, I will try to find the responsible extension etc. To be continued in the newsgroup <de.comm.software.mozilla.mailnews>. BTW: The problem is not solved yet, but I need to say "Thunderbird itself is not responsible for that". What kind of resolution status is most suitable? FIXED, INVALID, WONTFIX or WORKSFORME? None of these seems to be the right choice in this case? ;-) Regards, Matthias

"Invalid" because it's not actually a bug (that is, not with Thunderbird itself). Thanks.

Hello, Now I have re-opened this bug for the following reason: Currently, I use TB 1.0.7. In the newsgroup <microsoft.public.de.money>, I answered the posting <dpcd4l$t2a$00$1@news.t-online.com>. The message id of my answer is <43B9BDFC.8010609@matthias.spanier.dialin.t-online.de>. The subject of my answer reads "Re: ", and the subject of the posting <dpcd4l$t2a$00$1@news.t-online.com was lost. I closed TB and re-started in in safe mode to check whether TB itself or one of the extensions might be responsible for that problem. And even now, when working in safe mode and answering to <dpcd4l$t2a$00$1@news.t-online.com>, the subject of my answer was "Re: ". As the problem re-occurred in TB safe mode, I am re-opening this bug. Regards, Matthias

Matthias, I managed to miss your comment 4 when you posted it back in January; sorry. Do you still have the message that was causing the problem? Or another like it? If you have a sample message for testing, please save it as a .EML file and attach it to this bug (using the Create New Attachment link, above).
