To reproduce:
* Start the Account Wizard to create a new e-mail account.
* Enter your e-mail address as `abc@foo.bar' at the appropriate point.
* Continue to the page for specifying the incoming and outgoing mail server
names.
What should happen:
* Since it's extremely likely that, given an e-mail address of `abc@foo.bar', the
incoming and outgoing mail server names will be of the form `xyz.foo.bar',
`.foo.bar' should be placed in the incoming and outgoing server name fields
automatically.
This feature should be smart enough to update the server name fields if I change
my e-mail address while still in the wizard, but *not* once I've made any changes
to the server name fields myself. (In the same way that the contents of the
`Display Name' field in 4.x's address book is automatically generated from the
`First Name' and `Last Name' fields, *until* I make any changes to the `Display
Name' field myself.)

I've considered this before, but I would like to disagree. Many users do not
know that ".foo.com" is not a valid hostname, and may assume that the default is
correct.... I think it's better to leave the field blank so that it is obvious
to the user that SOMETHING must be entered in that field. I also thought of
adding other defaults, like mail.foo.com, but there is simply too much variation
amongst the ISPs on what the pop3/smtp servers should be (mail, pop3, pop-3,
popmail, etc)
I'm working on a feature right now so that an ISP can put an RDF file on their
website which has all this information pre-filled for the user. This will allow
a user to enter "alecf@foo.com" and have the wizard say "Would you like to
contact www.foo.com to retrieve default account settings?" But it won't be ready
until after beta 1.
So I'm going to mark this WONTFIX because:
1) I think this is the wrong thing to do (as outlined above)
2) I have this other scheme for specifying defaults (as described above)

That sounds fair enough. Perhaps, instead, the field could auto-complete as soon
as the user started typing the beginning of the domain? I.e. as soon as I type
`imaphost.f', the `oo.bar' is auto-completed? (Should I file a separate bug for
that?)

heh, that would be cool... yes, file a seperate bug... but I'll tell you right
now, I'm not going to implement it, (I just have more important things to do :))
so file it against nobody@mozilla.org and add a keyword "helpwanted"
