RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 217563

People

(Reporter: crom99, Assigned: bugs)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050223 Firefox/1.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050223 Firefox/1.0.1

It would be nice if Firefox would return to the tab that was in focus before I
close another tab.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open multiple tabs (for this example, 3 should be fine)
2. Click on tab 1.
3. Click on tab 3.
4. Click the Close Tab button to close tab 3.

Actual Results:
The focus is shifted to the last tab in the tab bar (tab 2)

Expected Results:
Firefox should have shifted focus back to tab 1, the tab I was using before I
selected and closed tab 3.
Making that change would make Tabbed Browsing more confusing and less
predictable, which is why the bug was WONTFIXed. You can however use an
extension to get your desired behavior. The extension is available at:
