SUMMARY

Change default owner for firefox components.


DETAIL

I spent about two weeks shadowing [e-mail] just to see if I could
help out with the triage.  Forget it!  Bugs come in at a blinding rate.

I talked to Ben about this, and we thought it might be better if the default
assignee was changed to [e-mail] and [e-mail], so that
developers could listen in to specific components (e.g.,
[e-mail]), and so that folks in the community would not put all
the blame on Ben for not processing bug mail in a timely fashion.  No single
human can do that!!!

I propose that bug and qa ownership be changed for all firefox components since
those are all pretty high traffic components.

I know there were plans to do this in a grand and unified way for the entire bug
system, but how about we start with Firefox since I think it is badly needed.

I was about to ask to get my QA contacts pushed to generics, so I'm down for that.  
pch is gone, so Search should change.  
Vlad already has a separate account he's using for default on bookmarks bugs, so
I think he'd be in favour of this.  ccing him to confirm.  
David James and Erik Fornoff are long gone too, so we should change those.  
Simon Paquet is working mostly on Sunbird, so ccing him too.
Ali's been busy with school, but he seems to be more back now, ccing him to see
if he's fine just watching.

I'm fine with moving over default QA for Firefox Download Manager/File Handling
and Toolkit Download Manager over to generics if that's what people would like
to see. It doesn't really make a difference to me whether or not I'm the default
QA assignee or just watching a generic. The work is the same either way.

Classes are keeping me rather busy (no more late nights, since classes start
*early* here), but I'm still looking to help triage whenever I can (which
granted is less than I've been able to previously).

I'm fine with this approach, just give me a heads up one or two days before you
do this, so that I can change my watch settings in time.

As a note to Mike, I'm still doing Firefox QA but not nearly as much as I used
to when I was still studying or during my 6-month unemployment after I finished
business school. Right now I have a nice and clean 50-70 hour week, which does
not allow for a lot of Firefox-related work.

Addresses with a "*" in front of them are ones that deviate from the component
names slightly.  For example, instead of "location.bar.and.autocomplete", I
suggest simply "location.bar" because it seems sufficient to me.

I don't know if everyone agrees with my choices here, and I can't say that I
have any authority to say what they should be.  Someone with that authority
(asa?) should confirm that these are good choices or suggest better ones.

Nothing but the size of my buglist.  Go to http://wiki.mozilla.org/User:Justdave
and click on the ToDo List link, it's sorted in priority order.

If it's not near the top of that list, it tends to get ignored unless someone
makes noise on it like you guys did today.

These accounts are now created.  Several of these actually already existed, and
appear to be in use already.

Back to the component/keyword folks to set up the QAs.
