User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1

First time installation of Firefox went smoothly. All installation logs are
clean. However, Download Manager is grayed out in Tools-->Options-->Downloads.
Downloading a file causes a rudimentary download monitor to pop up instead of
the Download Manager.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download Firefox Setup 1.0.1.exe from mozilla.org
2. Execute same; choose Custom or Standard, no affect on outcome
3. Run Firefox

Actual Results:
Download Manager is not functioning. It is grayed out in
Tools-->Options-->Downloads. FlashGot complains "??? NO DOWNLOAD MANAGER
DETECTED ???" When downloading a file, a rudimentary download monitor appears,
but not Download Manager.

Expected Results:
Fully functional Download Manager after clean install.

This may be difficult to reproduce. The failure happened on a Compaq Presario
running XP Home SP2. When I saw the problem, I performed the same installation
on my home PC running XP Pro SP2. It worked perfectly. I went back to the
notebook, uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled: same result. I've reinstalled three
times, all with fresh downloads of the setup program. No Download Manager. There
are differences in the s/w load between my two systems. The notebook run
ZoneAlarm; the PC runs ZA Pro. The notebook is Athlon-based; the PC is P4.
(Don't see how either could have any affect.) Both systems run identical
versions of McAfee virus scan.
Are you sure you weren't using an extension that changed the download manager
interface? Theres no reason that the download manager interface should change.
Can you post a screenshot of what you see?

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a

you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
