Profile copying leads to database corruption - well, at least, some sort of, I
guess.

Both machines are XP SP2, running the German Thunderbird 1.0, and are NTP
synchronized, so time drifts should be no problem. Profile direcories are
exactly the same and I copy the whole

C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Florian Effenberger\Anwendungsdaten\Thunderbird

directory to the other machine. Symptoms that occur are:

1. Sometimes, folders containing messages do not show a number of messages,
although as I open the folder, they are there.

2. Sometimes, message number is doubled, i.e. showing 20 messages instead of 10.
As soon as I open the folder, the number is correct.

Compacting the folders does NOT always solve this problem.

Reproducible: Always
I have found out that the sort order or threading view is changed also. Seems
there are some more troubles when copying files.

Relates to bug 266837.
When not simply copying the profile, but RARing (compressing) it and telling RAR
to keep all file times exactly as they were, the problem seems not to occur.

I guess that it has something to do with slight time changes between the two
systems.

Could anyone please confirm this annoying bug?

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
