User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050226 Firefox/1.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050226 Firefox/1.0.1 I'd like to have a "New Event" dialog that allows faster progress, especially if you edit lots of events. Maybe my approach will be called too complex for unexperienced users (but i don't think so). Anyway, there may be switch for advanced users. I redesigned the dialog with the goal to reduce the ammount of clicks needed to edit the options. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open Calendar 2. create new event 3. take a look on the dialog 4. take a look at the screenshoots (see additional information) Actual Results: i was impressed :) Expected Results: look like the second screenshot http://home.arcor.de/caliga/down/newevent1.png http://home.arcor.de/caliga/down/newevent2.png

Sorry, but from an UI designer standpoint this is not the way to go. You're aiming for an all-or-nothing approach, but I would contest that many if not most of our users, do not need all these options every time they add a new event. So your proposal would make it much harder for most of our users to add a new event, which is not desirable. Actually we're going for a much more simple new event dialog. well, i didn't know that there will be lots of new options... anyway, maybe there could be an option to switch between structured and complex dialogs. i don't like to click on "recurrence" 20 times when i am about to enter 20 birthdays. also, i prefer radio buttons instead of dropdowns, they just save time... but then, another proposal: there could be some kind of template...: i select item type: "Birthday" and recurrence is automatically set to 1 year. also, the dialog could remember which item type i used the last time.

First of all, this bug is still WONTFIX. (In reply to comment #2) > well, i didn't know that there will be lots of new options... > > anyway, maybe there could be an option to switch between structured and > complex dialogs. i don't like to click on "recurrence" 20 times when i am > about to enter 20 birthdays. also, i prefer radio buttons instead of > dropdowns, they just save time... I doubt that we will introduce a pref for some kind of an advanced diaog mode. > but then, another proposal: > there could be some kind of template...: > i select item type: "Birthday" and recurrence is automatically set to 1 year. > also, the dialog could remember which item type i used the last time. That's a pretty good suggestion. Please file a new bug for this.
