I've enabled pages to download content but it hasn't helped Also, when ever i attempt to download any extention install files, i get the message that it couldn't be intalled because "not a valid installation package" and i've asked for live support but no one can figure it out CPU: Athlon XP 2500+ Mem: 512 MB OS: XP SP2 thanks for any help Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.go to addons.update.mozilla.org 2.click on a Firefox extention's name 3.click "Install now" 4.select intall from the message box Actual Results: says "Firefox could not download the file at [URL of .xpi file] because: it is not a valid installation package" Expected Results: shown that it would be installed after firefox restarted

Check if your firewall, antivirus software or your ISP or whatever you use to connect to the internet blocks exe/xpi files.

well, afaik Firefox doesn't produce messages like "this object has been blocked"

for the record, in bug 287471 it's said to be because of ZoneAlarm software.
