User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1

Auto-update wiped out themes, bookmarks, settings, passwords etc. It created a
second default folder in the C:/documents and settings/username/application
data/mozilla/profiles/xxxxx.default User states they did not seek an update
while the browser was active.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Expected Results:
update of any kind should not destroy user data and create a new default.

This problem used to happen all the time with Netscape 6.2--that's one big
reason we switched to Firefox. To prevent future incidents of this happening we
deselected "software update" boxes and the "allow web sites to install software"
box in the options.
Firefox does not attempt update when the browser is not running. It looks like
you somehow got two profiles. You can run firefox.exe -profilemanager to select
the old one where all of your user data is stored.
