User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1 Hello, i am able to view this site by downloading a bitstream component for internet explorer. In Netscape, i did not have to download anything - it worked showing all Bengali fonts as necessary. However, for Firefox, despite downloading the plugins as requested by the browser, the problem remains. It probably seeks a flash plugin, but actually the bitstream takes acre of the problem (for IE). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Key in the url http://www.anandabazar.com/ 2. Hit Enter / Click Go Actual Results: Cannot see the Bengali fonts in both on Windows 2000 and XP. Expected Results: Allowed me to read the newspaper by showing up the Bengali fonts, both on Windows 2000 and XP. Please contact me at nilgold@yahoo.com to get further description of how the fonts must look like. i can send in snapshots of what is expected.

I'm almost certain that <META content="text/html; charset=x-user-defined" http-equiv=Content-Type> is not a valid charset definition. The site needs to define a character set to use in this META tag. (I'm not sure which one is right, because I'm not sure what language they're intending to use.) It's totally broken in all browsers other than IE on the Mac.

Please have a look at: http://www.anandabazar.com/no_bangla.htm It works perfectly with IE - uses dynamic fonts from Bitstream - a free download. On a fresh install of IE, try the link - it will automatically ask you to download bitstream and seek permission for activeX. If you do it, works fine henceforth. i have not tried Macs, but in the older days of Netscape, no download was necessary - it worked the first time. Please follow up.

(In reply to comment #4) > It works perfectly with IE - uses dynamic fonts from Bitstream - a free > download. ...which is why this is filed as a TE bug -- to get it to work with something OTHER than IE, which it currently doesn't. Please contact the site as described in http://www.mozilla.org/projects/tech-evangelism/site/procedures.html#contacting and let them know they're restricting their user base to only about 60% of the Internet.

Page claims that it is now "redesigned" and "browser independent": --- Dear Readers We are happy to announce that our website is being updated technologically and it is now l Browser independent l Hardware independent l Font independent Our new address from now on: http://www.anandabazar.in Please note that our ARCHIVE (till 31st May, 2011) is still in the old technology and might not be visible to all our readers. --- And redirects to http://www.anandabazar.in/ which looks ok to me, but should probably be verified by a Bengali native speaker.
