User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 When using Find Toolbar to find a word, pressing the next button focuses on the next word, but the word appears at the bottom of the screen, which oftern means one has to scroll a few more lines to understand the context. It also just feels unnatural. Focusing the results in the middle of the screen, when possible, would be much better. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the "Find" toolbar 2. Type in word 3. Press "Find next" Actual Results: Page scrolls down only enough to just see selected result, which usually means it's at the bottom of the screen Expected Results: Page should scroll to show selected result in middle of the screen when possible

I have noticed this as well. Is it a 'GOOD FIRST BUG', with an easy path way to a fix? If so I will do it now.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050329 Firefox/1.0+ (In reply to comment #0) Status -> NEW IMO the page should scroll down until the highlighted word is centered vertically (or as far as possible if the bottom of the page is reached. The same should apply when searching upwards through the page.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
This is especially desirable on Apple laptops, because everyone there navigates with page down = space bar page up = shift + space bar because Apple's brain-damaged page down = fn + downarrow page up = fn + uparrow require both hands (fn and arrow keys are at opposite ends of the keyboard). Now after virtually every Firefox search, I want to navigate for context but end up typing spaces into the search field! (Please, someone tell me if there a pref to restore Mozilla's [and every other program's...] modal search dialog?)
