RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 28586

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050226 Firefox/1.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050226 Firefox/1.0.1

When a web page does not exist the alert is a little bit annoying. I think it
would be better to show this information as a webpage instead (as IE does) since
the alert has to be clicked away before you can type in the correct adress. A
web page would not hinder the interaction as the alert does.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Type in a non existing webadress
2.An alert windows will pop up
3.You have to click on it to be able to interact with the browser

Expected Results:
Show the information of a missing och non reachable webserver as a web page
instead.
In about:config, set browser.xul.error_pages.enabled to True and restart
Firefox. It may be a bit buggy with 1.0.1, but it's one thing that's being
improved for the 1.1 release.
