RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 238143

People

(Reporter: Kakashi420, Assigned: bugzilla)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1
Build Identifier: Firefox 1.0.1

I know that this is a common problem but I still haven't seen a solution for it.
The images either don't load at all or take a long time to load.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use latest Firefox
2.Load page with many images
3.Lather, rinse, repeat

Actual Results:
Images don't load

Expected Results:
Images should have loaded
(I don't know what "create a new attachment means") This form is really
frustrating as it appears to seek input that it will not accept. I am using a
Macintosh with OSX, not a Windows machine.

I had been using FireFox version 1.0.1, and sometime recently many images have
not been displayed even with a broken image icon. Nothing at all is there.
At URL:
http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/story.jsp?flok=FF-APO-1401&idq=/ff/story/0001%2F20050325%2F1940118982.htm&sc=1401
The header image is missing as is the image supposedly beneath the words
"Popular Photos" at the upper right. Clicking the empty space under those words
leads to a page that contains just a black box with a photo caption beneath it.
At URL: http://www.ktvu.com/index.html
The header images/banners are again missing, as are many of the photos which are
seen as black outlines with nothing inside. If the image menu is summoned and
"view image" is selected, the image is displayed as the only thing in the window.

I thought that maybe a newer version was out and indeed I found FireFox version
1.0.2, however exactly the same thing happens in this version. This did not use
to happen, and I don't remember exactly when it started. When something isn't
there, you don't know that it isn't there unless you've seen the page before
when whatever it is was there.

Hi all,

I just thought I would report on this to add some weight to these poor guys'
bug! My flatmate complained about not being able to use FF (1.0) because it
didn't display images to the left of items for sale on http://www.trademe.co.nz
- which it didn't on his machine. There was nothing displayed, no broken image
or anything. Clicking view image displayed the image fine on a new page.

I installed 1.0.2 over the top of it and the same thing happened. I deleted his
profile directory and restarted the browser. All worked fine after that.

He was running bandwidth tester extension and ForcastFox, but I uninstalled
Bandwidth Tester to check that wasn't causing problems. I will attached the
profile directory (recovered from the recycle bin).

Hope it helps.
Aaron
I had this same bug and found a fix.

First let me describe the problem. I'm running firefox-1.0.3-1.4.1. I turned on
my laptop yesterday, go into firefox, and every single image on every single
page I visited was not displaying. There was no "image loading" or "broken
image" style icon in place of the images - they were gone, white space where
they should be. I had "Load images" in Edit > Preferences > Web Features checked
off, and I did not have "from originating website only" checked. I removed all
exceptions from the images exceptions list.

I removed and reinstall firefox. Same problem.

I had several extensions installed, including the web developer toolbar,
adblock, and yahoo toolbar. I uninstalled all the extensions, and images worked
again (yay!) My guess is that it was some sort of problem with the Ad Block
extension.
Just confirming that removing Adblock 0.5.2.039 fixed the problem for me.
Re-installing Adblock 0.5.2.039 reproduced the problem.
The images are not appearing my Mozilla window at all. Some images show up, and
some don't even appear at all. It's becoming a real nuisance.
