User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 (Windows/20041206) I have a site hosted at Interland.net. When trying to check the email for any email address created on my domain, I recieve an error stating, "Sending of password did not succeed. The mail server <server name> responded: Authentication Exchange Failed." Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add account to Thunderbird 2. Click "Get Mail" for the new account 3. Provide a password when prompted Actual Results: An error is returned stating "Sending of password did not succeed. The mail server <server name> responded: Authentication Exchange Failed." This problem happens with Secure Authentication enabled or disabled. SSL is not supported on the server, so SSL is not a concern. Expected Results: After sending the password, mail should have been downloaded. The /exact/ same settings (including user name format) work in Mozilla Suite 1.7.5. Mozilla 1.8 beta yeilds the same error message given above. This same problem happens in Thunderbird on other machines as well, however does work in Mozilla Suite. There seems to be some change in Thunderbird's authentication method which does not work well with the POP server for my web host.

Pleqase provide a pop3 log(2 logs, one working and one failing would be the best: http://www.mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/mail-troubleshoot.html (and attach it via the "create new attachemtn" link in this bug)

Thanks for the logs ! This seems to be a dupe of bug 284799, both servers are "IPswitch" *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 284799 ***
